I grew up in Western New York. Born in Dunkirk, NY and raised in South Dayton and Fredonia, NY. I graduated from University at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY with honors, cum laude. (And if we get to know each other I have “the ultimate comeback story” I will share with you).
My background doesn’t have the “at age fill in the blank I just knew” moment. I pride myself in having worked extremely hard, and excelling even when I was told I was “too young”, “too small” or “too inexperienced”. It was those three “too’s” that have served as the fuel to my personal and professional success at high levels.
I was a walk on athlete in college and finished as a scholarship athlete. I was told flat out in the interview phases with Merck & Co., Inc. that I wouldn’t be able to learn the science. I proceeded to finish in the top 10% of my national sales training class, and the top 5% in the nation out of the nearly 1,000 employees in my division. I have inherited athletic teams with a record of 3 wins and 9 losses, and in one year with the same group of athletes had a record of 8 wins, 4 losses and a tie.
I fought my way from unloading semi’s of furniture and unpacking recliners in a stock room to overseeing the day to day operations of all the sales and marketing responsibilities of a company. In my time there I also landed the single largest sale in the company history of well over 100 years in business.
Can you tell I don’t like to lose?
But more than winning is seeing other people win with me and because of my part leading a team. I love team. True team.
As fun as making the team, closing the sale, and leading the nation in sales was…it’s what I’ve done since and continue to do now that I love even more.
To Coach, Teach, Speak and Invest in the lives of others.
There is nothing like it for me!
I am proud to say my wife and I are raising our family in the same neighborhood where we both grew up.
Ella, Oscar and Sawyer are the 3 blessings that my wife, Cara and I, are excited to raise right here in Western New York.
